A Day at HMI: My Journey into the World of Hypnotherapy

My Incredible Journey into Hypnotherapy

Hi everyone! It's Iva, and I am thrilled to share my incredible journey into hypnotherapy with you. It all started on April 16th, 2024, a day that truly changed my life. I was going through a tough time—a midlife crisis, an empty nest, and a health issue that had kept me out of work for years. I felt lost and unsure of my future.

Then, a Facebook ad popped up: "Become a Hypnotherapist" at a leading hypnotherapy school. It was like a beacon of light! I'd always been passionate about helping others, and suddenly, I saw a clear path forward. I immediately called the school and applied. One of the things that drew me in was their fantastic offer – the first month of study is completely free! It's an excellent way to get a taste of hypnotherapy and see if it fits you. In the introductory classes, you learn the basics of hypnotism, and believe it or not, you can actually hypnotize someone after just one month!
The school's instructors are top-notch, and the program is incredibly well-structured. The classes are engaging and cover a wide range of fascinating topics. We have two Zoom classes per week, and before each class, we complete workbook exercises and watch a video lecture. This prepares us for a live Q&A session with the instructor, where we can connect with fellow students and practice our skills.
My journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Some classes delve deep into complex subjects, requiring additional reading and research.
The instructors at HMI possess a remarkable ability to illuminate complex concepts and foster a joyful learning environment. Among the most impactful courses was Healing the Inner Child, a profound exploration of the lingering effects of childhood experiences on our adult lives. This class illuminated the profound significance of addressing unresolved emotional wounds from our past, recognizing that these buried fragments of our history can subtly shape our present reality. We can cultivate a harmonious inner landscape by fostering a compassionate connection with our inner child, embracing and nurturing the child within. This journey of self-love and acceptance empowers us to extend greater compassion and understanding to the world around us.
After completing the first semester, I'm in the residency program, seeing clients pro bono. It's an incredible experience to apply what I've learned and help people worldwide. During one of my recent sessions, I worked with a client struggling with insomnia, and we successfully made her sleep well and sound in a few sessions. Using the techniques I'd learned, I guided the client into deep relaxation and helped him access his inner resources. Witnessing their transformation was incredibly rewarding.
Thinking about studying hypnotherapy? Here are some things to consider:
* Cost: While the first month may be free, the full tuition is an investment. Planning your finances and exploring options like financial aid and payment plans is essential.
* Time commitment: Becoming a certified hypnotherapist takes dedication. Be prepared to balance coursework, practice sessions, and an internship with your other obligations.
* Online format:  If you prefer online learning, this might be the ideal fit. The school fosters a strong community through online platforms like online community platform HMI CAFE, where you can connect with fellow students.
* Specific approach: The school focuses on the Kappassinian method and teaches various modalities in hypnotherapy, a well-respected and effective method.
* Career guidance: The school offers resources and classes, including business development and marketing strategies, to help you build a successful practice after graduation.
My overall experience has been overwhelmingly positive. If you're passionate about helping others and interested in the power of the mind, explore a hypnotherapy program at HMI.

How to live a fulfilling life.

Ever wondered how to live a happier, more fulfilling life? Positive psychology might hold the answers! This relatively new branch of psychology shifts the focus from mental illness to well-being, emphasizing strengths, positive emotions, and optimal functioning. Think happiness, optimism, resilience, and purpose – these are the cornerstones of positive psychology. In this post, we'll explore the key principles of positive psychology and how they can help you thrive.
Positive psychology is a relatively new branch that focuses on human flourishing and well-being. Instead of focusing on mental illness and problems, it emphasizes strengths, positive emotions, and optimal functioning.
Here's a nutshell summary:
Focus: Identifying and cultivating factors contributing to a happy, meaningful, and fulfilling life.
Key figures: Martin Seligman, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Christopher Peterson
Core concepts: Happiness, optimism, resilience, gratitude, flow, meaning, purpose, strengths, virtues.
Applications in therapy:
Strengths-based approach: Identifying and utilizing clients' strengths and resources.
Cultivating positive emotions: Encouraging practices like gratitude, mindfulness, and savoring positive experiences.
Building resilience: Helping clients develop coping mechanisms and bounce back from adversity.
Finding meaning and purpose: Assisting clients in discovering what gives their lives meaning and direction.
Positive psychology complements traditional therapy by focusing on building a good life, not just fixing what's wrong. It's about moving beyond surviving to thriving
The PIE (Person in Environment) perspective is a valuable framework for understanding human behavior and well-being. It recognizes that we are all influenced by our surroundings and that our experiences are shaped by a complex interplay of individual and environmental factors. And as you mentioned, it encourages us to look beyond biases like gender, race, and age to see the inherent worth in every individual.
I'm particularly drawn to the emphasis on altruism, compassion, and positive leadership. It aligns with my own belief that we can create a better world by focusing on our shared humanity and working together towards common goals.
It is inspiring to embody those positive traits of gratitude, resilience, and compassion. With that you have a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of all things and a genuine desire to contribute to the well-being of others.
PERMA, it's a well-known model in positive psychology that outlines the key elements of well-being. Here's what the acronym stands for:
* Positive Emotions: Experiencing joy, gratitude, love, and other positive emotions.
* Engagement: Feeling absorbed and interested in your activities.
* Relationships: Having strong, supportive connections with others.
* Meaning: Feeling a sense of purpose and meaning in your life.
* Accomplishment: Achieving goals and feeling a sense of accomplishment.
It's a holistic framework that recognizes the importance of cultivating positive emotions, engaging in meaningful activities, building strong relationships, finding purpose, and striving for accomplishment.
